Submissions

Literature and art submissions can be sent to submissions@cannolipie.com.

Please include full contact information (first and last name and a brief bio, we like to brag about you when we publish your stuff).

Perfect Submissions Are:

  • Previously unpublished, original pieces by the author
  • Thoroughly finalized and revised to the highest standards regarding content and intention
  • Flawless in spelling and punctuation
  • Freestanding. You should not be tempted to explain your work; it will explain itself.
  • Interesting. Character driven narratives and humanist themes are the strongest.

Other Considerations:

We welcome formal verse and free form poetry as well as both conventional short fiction and flash fiction (1000 words or less). Formal verse poetry should still reflect modern themes and scenarios.

We regret that we cannot currently compensate contributors for their work. We hope this will change in the future.

By submitting your work you have agreed to give Cannoli Pie First North American Serial Rights. All rights revert to the author upon publication.

There is no such thing as a "submissions deadline" here. We publish small monthly issues so that we can constantly present new work and so that we never have to turn a submission away. Typically, submissions that are accepted end up published in the following month's issue, but that is subject to change depending on our work load. No submission will ever be turned away unread simply because of the date we received it.

If you have not recieved a notification about the status of your work within three weeks of submitting it feel free to inquire.

Please see archives for back issues and examples of the work we look for.

About

Cannoli Pie is a monthly periodical of poetry, fiction, art and food. It was founded in July 2010 based on the diverse talents and interests of three people. Our intention is to forward the work of writers and artists who are both knowledgeable of their forms' history yet decidedly modern and forward thinking in their application.

Cannoli Pie is co-edited by:

Stephen Krauska: a writer and photographer interested in imagism, futurism, humanism and scotch.

Claire Suellentrop: a Jill of All Trades, master of few. She's a writer, copy editor, radio personality and photographer. She eats music for breakfast and gingerly dips her toes into design. She looks at art and media like a new restaurant menu: to find out what you really like, you just have to shut up and try something.
